GCAHAC delivers a holistic model that provides whole of person care without discrimination. This includes under pinning social determinants that impact heavily on the health and well-being of individuals & families in our community. GCAHAC can also provide advocacy in areas including Housing, Mental health, Centrelink, Schools, Child Safety & Probation & Parole.

About the role

Goodradigbee is providing residential care to young people in Western Sydney/Nepean and Blue Mountains areas. Residential youth workers will manage all day to day caring, supported by the GCAHAC Manager – alternative care arrangements.

Duties include one on one care of children and young people that are in residential care environments, managing behaviours and meeting outcomes according to the young person’s case plan, and assisting with their transition to family care, foster care or independent living arrangements.

You will be a self-directed individual who is passionate about working directly with young people experiencing trauma and is committed to providing the best level care and support possible to our children and young people. 

Full Time and casual positions available.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum Cert IV in Community Services or similar qualification 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the field
  • Have an understanding of the impacts of intergenerational trauma and the affects this has on Aboriginal persons and their families 
  • Availability to work flexible working hours including shift work, weekends and sleepover shifts
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of trauma-informed care
  • Current Unrestricted Drivers’ Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • current Working with Children Check 

Desirable Criteria

  • Be of Aboriginal descent 
  • experience in Out of Home Care
  • previous employment with children and families
  • ability to work as a part of a team and independently.
